Interior designer already lists the main advantages and disadvantages of closed, semi-open and open kitchens.
OPEN KITCHEN

ADVANTAGES OF AN OPEN KITCHEN
Ability to keep in touch with your housemates or guests in the kitchen. In this way, cooking becomes a social event.
Gives the home a more spacious, open feeling. You can make one large space from two smaller spaces.

DISADVANTAGES OF AN OPEN KITCHEN
Unpleasant odors spread to the living room. Therefore, provide a good extractor hood that keeps cooking odors away from the rest of the house, but does not suck out all the air.
Annoying sounds from the kitchen can also be heard in the living room. Even if you want to close the kitchen, it will not work.
The same style of kitchen and living room is recommended for a beautiful interior.
Both rooms must always be heated. The desired temperature in the living room is often higher than desired in a workplace such as a kitchen. An outside door in the kitchen also means energy loss. It is not possible to close the kitchen after use to save energy.
Clutter, dirty dishes, … are visible in the living room. Therefore, make sure you have enough storage space or opt for a design where clutter is not visible.
A specific light approach is required. When the Kitchen Designs are not used intensively, for example in the evening, the light should still be able to burn without too much being noticed.

ADVANTAGES OF A CLOSED KITCHEN

For some, the absence of distractions while cooking may be an advantage.
Clutter and dirty dishes are not visible from the living room.
Visitors do not see what is happening in the kitchen. This can, for example, be an advantage in case of clutter or when you do not want to see potters.
You can give the kitchen a completely different style than the other rooms.
Better hygiene because food scraps and bacteria can spread less.
DISADVANTAGES OF A CLOSED KITCHEN
A small, closed kitchen can feel cramped.
Less social contacts with family and visitors. Cooking is less of a social event.
Children who mainly stay in the living room can be watched less.
