What You Need to Know about Singapore Long-Term Visit Pass LTVP

by admin

Singaporean authorities offer two forms of Long Term Visit Passes with different requirements and application processes. The Immigration & Checkpoint Authority (ICA) issues one such Long Term Visit Pass that acts as an extension to an existing Short-Term Visit Pass.

What Is an LTVP Singapore? A long-term social visit pass Singapore is a visa issued by the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) and Ministry of Manpower (MOM), permitting certain family members to live and work in Singapore. There are two different LTVP types with their own eligibility requirements and application procedures.

Partners of Singapore citizens or PRs may qualify for the Singapore Long Term Visit Pass Plus (LTVP+), providing them with more certainty about staying in Singapore as well as employment and health benefits.

However, to apply for the LTVP+ you must fulfill certain criteria, including having at least one Singaporean child and being married for at least three years – these requirements must all be fulfilled for eligibility.

Who Can Apply for the Long Term Visit Pass (LTVP)?

If you plan to extend your visit beyond 30 days in Singapore, a Long Term Visit Pass (LTVP) allows for longer stays while also permitting family members to accompany you.

Applications for the Long Term Value Protection (LTVP) card typically take three weeks to process. Your family members will need to get their pictures taken and fingerprints registered during this time, before receiving their card from LTVP.

An LTVP is valid for up to two years but may be extended further by renewing. If you plan on staying in Singapore for an extended period, apply early for your pass so it will remain valid.

Your application will be evaluated based on your submitted documents, such as passport details and birth certificates. In some instances, these may need to be translated or notarized if they do not come in English.

Additionally, your vaccination records should be regularly reviewed by a Singapore healthcare provider.

As soon as your application has been accepted, an In-Principle Approval letter will be issued, outlining which documents need to be presented at ICA offices to complete your LTVP application.

Under certain conditions, you may also qualify to apply for an LTVP+, an extension that would allow you to remain in Singapore up to two years post renewal of the original visa.

How Can I Apply for an LTVP? Applying for an LTVP is straightforward and simple, involving collecting all necessary documents and submitting them to the proper authority. After this has happened, an in-principle approval letter should arrive soon after and your designated family member can arrive in Canada.

Apply for an LTVP through either the ICA website or MOM’s online application service, with processing times usually taking 7 working days; faster applications can often be submitted by using third-party agencies or employers who submit on behalf of their employees.

Once your application has been accepted, the ICA will send an In-Principle Approval (IPA) notice via email that can be downloaded through their e-service. When this notice arrives in your inbox, schedule an e-appointment via their website in order to pick up your LTVP card from their office directly.

Can I renew or extend my LTVP? Processing an application can take anywhere between three weeks and four months, depending on its complexity and type. When approved, download an in-principle approval letter before going in for medical screenings to receive your pass.

These schemes may help make it easier to secure a work permit, S Pass or Singapore work visa for your family members; however, you must ensure they receive an immunization against diseases prevalent in Singapore.

Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents (PRs) can also take advantage of this program and sponsor it for relatives who do not qualify for Dependant’s Pass or permanent residency status.

Employees employed in Singapore with either an Employment Pass or S Pass may apply for their family member’s LTVP via their employer or appointed employment agent (EA). Employers or EAs will lodge the application via EP Online* and pay a processing fee of S$105 on behalf of their employees.

Another key consideration when deciding whether to apply for an LTVP or not is cost considerations. These costs could depend on how long your loved one will require long term care assistance.
