Seven Reasons You Should Fall in Love with Keto Diet

by mnchouhan

According to a survey in multiple cities, nearly 70% of Indians across metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, or Chennai are overweight or obese. Thanks to the easy and quick access to calorie- overloaded packaged foods, inactive lifestyles, and obsession for gizmos that ‘make life easy’.

If this is scary, so is putting yourself on a diet. But adopting a low-carb diet can actually be doable and prove it’s worth in terms of nutrition benefits and healthy weight loss. So what there’s to swear by a keto diet and love it so much? Here are the reasons:

1. Works better and faster than other diets:

Some studies comparing low-fat diets and low-carb diets suggest that the latter sometimes lose 2-3 times as much weight, that too without being hungry. Talking about a country where the food is deeply steeped in the sea of carbohydrates, keto diet in India has not only received acceptance but exemplary response with some of the most inspiring stories.

2. Reduces appetite:

As suggested earlier, dieting is not a piece of cake. But the keto diet plan helps in managing hunger through the reduction in appetite. When you eat proteins and fats, as included in the keto diet, there are fewer chances of eating a higher number of calories.

3. Helps lose the abdominal fat:

I guess somewhere we all will agree that this is the FAT that is hardest to cope up with and to lose. It is the visceral fat that hoards the abdominal cavity and leads to inflammation and insulin resistance, resulting in metabolic dysfunction. Keto diet helps reduce this harmful abdominal fat, thus preventing the risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and other life-threatening diseases.

4. Enhances mental alertness and body energy:

Your carbohydrate overload might be blessing you with a mental block. Once you choose better food to sustain through the day, your mind will automatically become more active. As the blood sugar levels stay stable, you can have more energy to complete more tasks with a fresh and vibrant mood.

5. Lowers blood sugar levels:

Cutting carbs from the diet reduces blood sugar and insulin levels dramatically. As the ketogenic diet starts clearing sugary foods from the bloodstream, your sugar levels don’t push up drastically when you eat.

6. Incorporates nutrition-rich foods in place of calories:

The human body needs vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, and amino acids for healthy living. Thankfully, keto diet is not a starvation diet for the body, but it offers as many calories as required depending on age, gender, and level of physical activity. Even though it’s a weight loss diet, it allows consuming a satiating level of healthy and nutritious food like seafood, green leafy vegetables, and fatty meats.

7. Improving the balance of Good and Bad Cholesterol:

High-density lipoprotein (HDL) is the “good” cholesterol. The higher the levels of HDL in comparison to the bad cholesterol- low-density lipoprotein(LDL), the lower the risk of heart disease. Eating fats increase HDL and low-carb diets like keto diets allow a good consumption of fats. Also, if there are more larder LDL particles than smaller ones, one is at a greater risk to have heart attacks. It’s the keto diets that help boost the size of small LDL particles and reduces the number of total LDL particles in the bloodstream.
